Resinas do Brasil Institute

Throughout its history, the RB Group has contributed to social causes across a wide range of issues, participating in non-profit campaigns and events, as well as promoting its own initiatives, always prioritizing actions in the communities where it operates.

With this consolidated and participatory vision for building an inclusive, ethical, and environmentally sustainable society, in February 2019 the RB Group set a new challenge and consolidated a dream, creating the Resinas do Brasil Institute.

The Instituto Resinas do Brasil will now represent the social arm of the RB Group, following the principles of intersectorality and transversality, through strategies that seek to promote partnerships in integrated projects and actions. Its objective is to mobilize human, social, and economic capital, unifying its competencies to minimize the impacts of social inequality.

The Instituto Resinas do Brasil, guided by its bylaws, has defined its operating strategy based on the following premises:

1

Zero hunger and sustainable agriculture

Our Strategy

With the target audience already defined, we conducted a preliminary territorial assessment, with the aim of gathering information to establish our strategy for action.

The preliminary assessment indicated that the Instituto Resinas do Brasil should prioritize its work in rural areas, where we identified a low HDI (Human Development Index).

In addition to indicators of social vulnerability, another determining factor in choosing the rural area was the location of the manufacturing units and pine plantation and resin extraction farms owned by the RB Group.

The areas surrounding the RB Group's factories and farms were evaluated as facilitating access to these communities with the support of corporate volunteering, and the potential use of the factories' and farms' infrastructure in the implementation of future social projects. The selection of areas surrounding our businesses was a deliberate way to actively contribute to the communities that directly or indirectly interact with the RB Group.

Based on the preliminary data from the pre-diagnosis, the RB Group decided, in the initial phase, to support the actions of the Instituto Resinas do Brasil by transferring resources through Incentive Laws, via direct donations of its taxes as permitted by Brazilian law, and in the future to encourage the formation of a network of partners among the company's clients and suppliers.

Law for the Promotion of Culture

The seed was planted.

Through the Cultural Incentive Law, the RB Group, in partnership with the Instituto Resinas do Brasil, fully sponsored several important projects for municipalities with little or no access to cultural events. This initiative reflects our values and commitment to the communities where we operate.

The RB Group believes that initiatives promoting access to information, education, and culture amplify the positive impacts of social transformation. Learn about some of their projects:

Dance Performance Project

The first project was carried out in November 2019 in the municipality of Apiaí in the interior of São Paulo state, a region with approximately 25,000 inhabitants, where a large part of the economy comes from pine tree plantations and gum resin extraction.

The RB Group selected and invested in the project because the municipality does not offer access to cultural events from major centers, and especially because of the nature of the cultural project, which featured children from the municipality of Apiaí, and all the hiring of labor for the production of the show was done locally.

PhotoTruck Project

Following the public policy of incentive laws in September 2021, we sponsored a socio-educational project aimed at public schools in the municipality of Bom Sucesso de Itararé, also in the interior of São Paulo state. A total of 241 students and 34 educators benefited from the project, using photographic techniques to transform their different perceptions of the world around them into images.

The PhotoTruck Project, created by photographer André François, founder of ImageMagica, uses photography as a tool to encourage children and young people to reflect on important themes.

The PhotoTruck is a converted truck that simulates a giant camera, where participants engage in various photography-related activities.

Through the magic of photography, themes of local culture, the environment, and sustainability were explored. The project resulted in a great synergy between the children and the countryside, prompting reflection, especially on reforestation and gum resin extraction.

At the project's conclusion, all the material produced was converted into a traveling exhibition open to the community.

Green Ship Project

Scheduled for 2023, already approved by the Ministry of Citizenship, promoted by the RB Group and executed with the support of the Instituto Resinas do Brasil, the Nave Verde Project will be offered to 7 cities in the interior of São Paulo and 3 municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The Green Ship is an inflatable structure with a distinctive look, where theatrical performances will be presented, educational booklets will be distributed, workshops on reusing recyclable materials will be held, and training for educators will take place.

The shows will feature the character Dr. Gota, our host who teaches in a fun and interactive way about various topics relevant to waste recycling, healthy living, and the importance of environmental resources with a sustainable vision of their use.

At the closing of activities at the site where the Nave Verde (Green Ship) was installed, trees will be planted; the planting, in addition to its environmental focus, is a landmark for the memory of the project.

Our Actions

The Resinas do Brasil Institute has developed important complementary activities in the social sphere, as proposed in its mission.
