INSTITUTO RESINAS DO BRASIL

Throughout its history, RB Group has been contributing to social causes in the most diverse issues, participating in campaigns and non-profit events, in addition to promoting its own initiatives, always prioritizing actions in the communities where it operates.

With this consolidated and participatory vision for the construction of an inclusive, ethical and environmentally sustainable society, in February 2019 the RB Group outlined a new challenge and consolidated a dream, creating the Instituto Resinas do Brasil.

The Instituto Resinas do Brasil now represents the social arm of the RB Group, following the principles of intersectoriality and transversality, through strategies that seek to promote partnerships in integrated projects and actions. With the objective of mobilizing human, social, and economic capital, unifying their competencies to minimize the impacts of social inequality.

The Instituto Resinas do Brasil, guided by its bylaws, defined its performance strategy with the following premises:

OUR STRATEGY

With the target audience already defined, we carried out a territoriality pre-diagnosis, with the objective of gathering information to establish our action strategy.

The pre-diagnosis indicated us as a priority the work of Instituto Resinas do Brasil in rural areas, where we identified low HDI (Human Development Index).

Besides the social vulnerability indicators, another determining factor for the choice of the rural area was the location of the pine plantations and resin extraction farms owned by the RB Group.

The surroundings of RB Group’s factories and farms were evaluated as a facilitator to access these communities with the support of corporate volunteering, and the possible use of the structure of the factories and farms in the implementation of future social projects. The selection of the areas surrounding our businesses was a thoughtful way to actively contribute to the communities that directly or indirectly interact with RB Group.

With the preliminary data from the pre-diagnosis, RB Group defined, in the initial phase, to support the actions of Instituto Resinas do Brasil through the transfer of resources by the Incentive Laws, by means of direct donations of its taxes that the Brazilian law allows, and in the future to encourage the formation of a network of partners among the company’s customers and suppliers.

THE SEED HAS BEEN PLANTED

Law for Cultural Incentive

Through the Law for Cultural Incentive, RB Group in partnership with Instituto Resinas do Brasil fully sponsored some important projects for municipalities with little or no access to cultural events. This initiative reflects our values and commitment to the communities where we operate.

RB Group believes that actions that promote the access to information, education, and culture amplify the positive impacts of social transformation:

Dance Show Project

The first project was held in November 2019 in the municipality of Apiaí in the interior of São Paulo state with about 25,000 inhabitants, a region with much of its economy coming from pine planting and resin gum extraction.

RB Group selected and invested in the project due to the fact that the city does not offer access to cultural shows in large centers and mainly due to the characteristic of the cultural project, which was performed by children from the city of Apiaí, and all the labor for the production of the show was done locally.

PhotoTruck Project

Following the public policy of the incentive laws in September 2021, we sponsored a socio-educational project aimed at public schools in the municipality of Bom Sucesso de Itararé, also in the countryside of São Paulo state. A total of 241 students and 34 educators benefited from the project, using photography techniques to convert their different perceptions of the world around them into images.

The PhotoTruck Project, created by photographer André François, founder of ImageMagica, uses photography as a tool to encourage children and young people to reflect on important themes.

The PhotoTruck is an adapted truck that simulates a giant camera, where participants develop several activities related to photography.

And through the magic of photography, themes of local culture, environment, and sustainability were approached. During the execution, we had as a result a great synergy between the child and the field, bringing reflections especially about reforestation and gum-resin extraction.

At the end of the project all the material produced was converted into an itinerant exhibition open to the community.

Green Nave Project

Programmed for the year 2023, already approved by the Ministry of Citizenship, encouraged by the RB Group and executed with the support of the Instituto Resinas do Brasil, the Nave Verde Project will be offered to 07 cities in the interior of the state of São Paulo and 03 cities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The Green Spaceship is an inflatable structure with a differentiated look, where theatrical performances, educational handouts, workshops on the reuse of recyclable materials, and training for educators will be presented.

The shows will feature the character Dr. Gota, our host who teaches in a fun and interactive way about several subjects related to waste recycling, healthy living, and the importance of environmental resources with a sustainable vision of their use.

At the closing of the activities at the site where the Green Nave was installed, trees will be planted; besides the environmental focus, the planting is a milestone in the project’s memory.
